Walk-in shower with gold fixtures and a floor-level entry

Bathroom renovation in Mississauga.

DNU Renovations renovates bathrooms across Mississauga, from Port Credit to Churchill Meadows, turning dated ensuites and main baths into walk-in showers and custom tile with one crew doing every trade.

A lot of Mississauga houses went up in the 1980s and 1990s, and a lot of them still have the bathrooms they came with. The ensuite is usually the one people call me about: a corner tub nobody uses, a small shower stall beside it, and tile that dates the whole room.

We take it back to the studs and rebuild it properly. My crew does the plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tile, carpentry and paint, so there is one team in your house and one person to call. And before any tile goes up, I show you the sloped floor and the waterproofing that will keep the new shower dry.

Corner tub to walk-in shower

Taking out a corner tub is one of the most common requests I get in Mississauga. The space usually becomes a larger walk-in shower, and the drain has to move with it, which we plan before demolition.

The window in the wet area

Many of these ensuites have a window over the tub. If the new shower goes there, the window sits in the wet zone, and the sill and frame need to be waterproofed and sloped so water does not sit on them.

Keeping the house livable

The ensuite is often the bathroom you use every day. We plan the order of work so you know how long it will be out of service and which bathroom you are using in the meantime.

What the job includes.

Demolition to the studs

Old tile, tubs and drywall out, so we can see what the previous work was hiding.

Plumbing and drains

New supply lines, valves and drains, set for the fixtures you actually chose.

Electrical and ventilation

GFCI circuits, pot lights, vanity lighting and an exhaust fan sized for the room.

Waterproofing

A sloped shower floor and a membrane on the walls and floor of the wet area, sealed at every corner and niche.

Tile

Floors, shower walls, niches and feature walls, set flat and lined up.

Finishing

Vanity, glass, fixtures, trim, paint and hardware, installed and cleaned up.

Before the tile goes up, ask to see

  1. 1The shower floor sloped to the drain
  2. 2The waterproofing membrane on the walls and floor (on my jobs, it is the red layer)
  3. 3The niche sealed like the rest of the wall, because it is a hole cut into your waterproofing

Bathroom renovation in Mississauga: common questions

Can you replace my ensuite corner tub with a walk-in shower?

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs in Mississauga homes from the 1980s and 1990s. The drain usually moves, the floor gets sloped to it, and the whole wet area gets a waterproofing membrane before tile. We look at your room during the consultation and I tell you what it involves.

Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation in Mississauga?

Permits in Mississauga are issued by the City of Mississauga Building Division. Replacing fixtures in the same spot usually does not need one; moving drains, adding a bathroom or changing walls usually does. We confirm what your plan needs before work starts.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Mississauga?

The size of the room, the amount of tile, whether the plumbing moves and the fixtures you choose are what move the price. I quote after seeing the room, so the number is for your bathroom, not an average.

Which parts of Mississauga do you work in?

All of it, including Port Credit, Lorne Park, Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale, Clarkson, Churchill Meadows and Mineola.

If you can dream it, we can build it.
